Please help The Matilda Project fund research into pediatric brain cancers.
When Matilda was initially diagnosed with a brain tumor, we were shocked to find out how little funding was allocated toward childhood cancer research. We all assume that children are the priority, so it is both appalling and distressing to find out that not only are pediatric cancers underfunded, but there remain pediatric cancers that receive almost no targeted research funding at all. It was unbelievable to us that there was no standard protocol or effective treatment for her tumor type. This meant that nobody really knew which borrowed adult treatment would be a best gamble. A gamble when discussing treatments that could alter her permanently, that were toxic in ways we could only guess or fear, and/or that might cause her pain or discomfort for no known actual benefit.
It does not have to be this way! The main reason we know so little about how to effectively fight pediatric brain cancers is because of a lack of will, not a lack of science. With your help we CAN change this! With your help we hope to fund novel research into treatments and potential cures for children with brain tumors.
